The Leaders of Our Sport

Cornhole is a social game in which players take turns throwing bean bags at a raised platform board with a hole in the far end. It is considered a ‘backyard’ game. While most people play at the cottage or tailgating outside a local sports venue it can now be played in a structured environment indoors or outdoors.

Yes! There are many leagues across our beautiful Country. Please visit our Member Leagues page for all the registered leagues.

Cornhole Canada is sanctioning governing body of the sport and is registered with the Canadian government as a non-profit organization. We will govern, sanction and standardize the sport.

Member leagues receive liability insurance, Registered Participants receive accidental insurance, access to the National Championships, the Canadian National Points System, the official rulebook, all administrative tools, promotions and support throughout the year.

The current insurance plan is $15 per player per year and provides accidental dental and medical insurance, to all players, volunteers, coaches, officials, employees, directors and officers registered with Cornhole Canada. League operators also receive liability insurance.

Leagues may be started in any town or city in our Country as long as a existing league does not already reside there.

Sanctioned leagues can be found by visiting our Member Leagues page.

Board members are elected at the Annual General Meetings through their Provincial/Territorial Associations. Any person involved with a sanctioned league may apply for a position when they become available.

Cornhole can be played by any individual regardless of age. Most leagues have youth divisions for children under 16 years old and adult divisions for players over 17 years old.

No. Leagues supply boards and bags. Players are allowed to purchase their own bags as long as the bags meet Cornhole Canada’s specifications.

Each league is responsible for their own fees. Some leagues have social nights with a minimal fee of $5 to $10 per night. Some have weekly league games with costs starting at $80 a season. It is very inexpensive. Ask your local league for details.

Most leagues offer social and competitive divisions. Social is for beginners and played just for fun. Competitive include intermediate, advanced and pro divisions.

Six! Men, Women, Mixed Adults, Boys, Girls and Mixed Youth. Leagues may amalgamate all adults to the same division and well and youth divisions should it choose.

No. The actual year starts in September and ends in August. Most leagues offer fall, winter, spring and summer leagues.

Member Provinces/Territories may hold their Championships in any month within the season.

The National Championships are held in August each year.

Non-member programs or unsanctioned leagues are leagues that are not affiliated with Cornhole Canada and operate outside of our system. Unsanctioned leagues are wholly responsible for their own oversight. It is up to each individual unsanctioned league to determine how issues like injuries, harassment and rule infractions are handled.

In some cases, unsanctioned leagues operate without a constitution, without bylaws, without insurance and with their own customized rulebook for game play.

Cornhole Canada has no regulatory authority over unsanctioned leagues and cannot ensure a consistently high standard of game play in unsanctioned leagues. It is for this reason that Cornhole Canada does not condone, endorse or create affiliations with unsanctioned leagues.
